Welcome to our website!
Sue grew up on her family farm outside of Madison, Wisconsin surrounded by the beauty of hills, woods, farm fields and wild meadows. Her father, a forester, taught her to observe the smallest details of nature with awe. She says that even then, her spirit was being taught to see the Creator through His creation.
Sue graduated from Edgewood College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing and spent 30 years working in hospitals, home health nursing and clinics before retiring in 2009 and finally being free to spend as much time as she wants creating art and encouraging others to develop their own creativity.
She says, "Now I see my paintings as a way to share my Lord in a nonthreatening way with others through His reflection in the beauty of His creation. This is why the logo I use for all my artwork is 'HisOwn Works'.
When I started painting again in 2003, I began in acrylics. Since September of 2007, I have been working in soft pastels as well. I love the vivid color and the glow of pastels. I am constantly challenged and always learning. Recently I have been experimenting with oils and the unique nature of that medium.
Most of my artwork is in the realistic style. I prefer to create rural and natural landscapes. Almost all of the works on my Gallery pages are pastel paintings. I hope you enjoy them! But most of all, I hope they challenge you to look more carefully around you and perceive His love for you shining through the beauty of our world. "
Sue lives in Madison with her husband, Gary, dividing her time between family, art, and volunteer activities with her church and in the community.
She is a member of the Madison Art Guild and the Wisconsin Regional Art Association. Her paintings have won awards at the local level through the Madison Art Guild and at the local and state levels in the Wisconsin Regional Art Association.

Gary grew up in North Dakota, and taught for 43 years in the areas of music, language arts and social studies.
Throughout his career, his innate creativity was channeled into the production of unique teaching aides, artwork for curricula and unique presentations in the performing arts. Secretly he always had a desire to create his "own" art and over the years developed a passion for abstract art.
Retirement finally gave him the freedom to unleash his "wild" side and voila!---abstract beauty emerged out of found objects that most people would consider of no worth and discard. Nails, screws, nuts and bolts found their way into collages that glowed with new life. Shells, toothpicks, eggshells---pretty much anything is "fair game"!
He believes that God has given us a world of infinite variety in textures and colors. Gary's goal is to highlight these textures and colors in art to point out what otherwise might go unnoticed.
